CANP- Sacramento Chapter
Dear Colleague,
Thank you for your interest in the CANP- Sacramento Chapter. In 2009-2010, CANP- Sacramento Chapter enjoyed an active continuing education calendar year. In addition to monthly dinner meetings and updates regarding legislation and practice, many CANP- Sacramento Chapter members actively participated in lobbying their local Senator and Congressmen at the capitol on Lobby Day. CANP- Sacramento Chapter continued the publication of our chapter newsletter, and supported the California Association of Nurse Practitioners (CANP) with donations for government relations.
Welcome! We invite you to join your local professional organization today and make CANP- Sacramento Chapter one of your practice partners. Membership extends from July 1st to June 30th of the following year. This membership coincides with the CANP membership. If you are already a member, it's time to renew. As a CANP- Sacramento Chapter member you will receive:
In order to cover the costs of running our chapter, CANP- Sacramento Chapter charges an annual fee of $50.00 to its members. For NP members, you only pay one set of dues to CANP. The $50 CANP- Sacramento Chapter dues are included in the amount you pay for that membership. Your membership fee will support annual contributions to CANP to support legislation to promote NP practice, NP scholarships, and holiday donations to local charities.
This year's educational dinners will cover a wide variety of topics and occur in different locations throughout our region. In return for the increase in dues, we will be decreasing the amounts per dinner meeting to $5 for members, $40 for nonmembers, and free for student members. Students are expected to join their state organization to continue participating in free monthly dinners. This fee is used to provide financial support to CANP, scholarship for a NP student to attend the annual conference of their state organization, to subsidize costs for state representative meetings, and to fund CANP- Sacramento Chapter administrative costs.
Our chapter is committed to supporting students, and each year we give a scholarship to a NP student to attend the annual conference of their state organization, as well as pay dues for a 1 year membership to their state organization.
Our CANP- Sacramento Chapter bylaws have required this for some time; however, this policy had not been enforced. If you are not a current member of CANP we encourage you to join now. These programs alleviate the burden of having to come up with a yearly payment. You can either join or renew your statewide membership using the payment plan that best suits you by contacting CANP at their web sites:
If you are interested in being involved with the NP student scholarships, have ideas or sponsors for our educational dinners, or would like to join the board, we welcome your involvement.
We welcome your membership and support for your professional organization. We encourage your attendance at educational dinners. They provide a FUN, dynamic networking opportunity for the attendees. Remember, our memberships in CANP- Sacramento Chapter are very important in helping to advance our practice.
For your convenience, we have provided a member profile form for you to complete and include with your annual fee. If you have any membership questions, please contact Alisa Dieterich, NP, Membership Chair at 'sanppaa@sanppaa.org'. If you have any other questions, please contact Devin Harris, NP, President at 'sanppaa@sanppaa.org'. We look forward to your membership helping to make this another great year!
Sincerely,
Your SANPPAA Board of Directors:
